Serves as a point of contact for patients, referring physician offices and insurance providers to evaluate individual needs of patients and appropriately navigate all levels of sleep services within the Valley Health System.
EDUCATION:
Associates degree preferred. If degree is outside medical field, completion of Medical Terminology course. Combination equivalent experience and/or education is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years health care experience preferred including medical terminology required, customer service experience strongly preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS:
* Customer service oriented. * Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills required (ie. Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.). Completion of orientation/training as required. Pleasant and professional phone skills with good diction, tone, and pace. Must be able to use general office equipment including multi-line telephone system. * Demonstrates excellent communication (oral and writing), organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, including patients and family members from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, health care professional colleagues and external health- and service-focused organizations. * Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to handle frequent interruptions, adapt to changes in workload, and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to patients’ needs. Uses discretion in confidential matters. * Employs active listening and remain solutions-oriented in interactions with patients, families and members of the health care team. Demonstrate empathy, integrity, honesty and compassion in difficult conversations. Ideal candidate is self-motivated, demonstrates initiative and is extremely detail oriented.
