Advanced Practice Provider (ICU-Nights)
In a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, contributes professional and clinical nursing expertise to assigned unit(s) and/or patient populations to ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care.
The CriticalCare Advanced Practice Provider (APP)diagnoses
medicalconditions, plans and implements interventions, and evaluates
criticallyill patients in collaboration with intensive care physicians.
He/she mayperform invasive therapeutic procedures (namely central venous
lines,arterial lines, thoracostomy tubes, intubation) based on the needs
of thespecific patient population as determined collaboratively with
theintensivist and as approved the board of trustees. He/she will also leadcodes
and manage arrhythmias per ACLS guidelines.
He/she will performventilator
management, invasive line removal, medication de-escalation,and
facilitate transfer of patients into and out of the critical careunits in
collaboration with intensivists. The critical care APP will facilitate
communication between patientsand family members and members of the
He/ she willcollaborate with nurses and managers to
implement and evaluate holisticpatient care delivery and serve as a
resource to members of thehealthcare team to facilitate delivery by using
an in-depth pathophysiologicand psychosocial knowledge base. The critical
careAPP will also work inconjunction with the critical care service
to perform daily rounds onintensive care and intermediate care patients,
facilitating execution ofthe prescribed treatment plan. He/She will
ensure that acute strokepatients are seen in a timely fashion and receive
comprehensive care. TheAPP will request consultations as needed from
other services and willmaintain awareness of all consulting actions and
Qualifications & Education
Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical practice experience; participation in
pertinent professional and/or specialty organizations preferred; BCLSand
ACLS certification; evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective
communication skills, and creative problem solving.
Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Registered in the State of New Jersey. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or
Health Care Field. Current Registered Professional Nurse and Certification as
an Advanced Practice Nurse in New Jersey. Master’s Degree in Nursing
required, Doctorate (DNP, PhD) preferred.
Physician Assistant:Graduate of an accredited physician
assistant program as determined by the Committee on Allied Health Education and
CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS: Credentialed as an Advanced Practice Nurse or
Physician Assistant in the State of New Jersey with primary focus of education
and trainingon Acute Care, Adult, Adult/Gerontology, or Family Medicine.
This position requires a collaborative agreement with a physician. The position
is contingent upon appointment to the Medical Staff by the Board of Trustees:
prescriptive privileges for medications, treatments and/or DME; History and
Physical Examination or episodic care of patients. BLS, ACLS, CCRN
