Job Description: Position Summary:

In a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, contributes professional and clinical nursing expertise to the Stroke Center, Neurosciences Department and neuro patient populations to ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care.

See addendum. Current Registered Professional Nurse and Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in New Jersey. Master’s Degree in Nursing required, Doctorate (DNP, PhD) preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing practice experience, primarily in area of specialty.

POSITION SUMMARY ADDENDUM:
Will provide oversight and coordination of the activities associated with the Valley Hospital’s Stroke Center. In a collaborative and inter-professional environment, contribute professional and clinical nursing expertise to the neuroscience unit and the stroke patient population to achieve optimal compliance for hospital-wide quality indicators as assigned.
Responsibilities will also include development of Stroke and Neuroscience programs to provide optimal care to patient populations designated at-risk. Lead the neurosciences department in pursuing and achieving The Joint Commission Disease specific certification for Stroke.

Job responsibility may include development of collaborative agreements with physician to provide appropriate interventions to achieve program goals. In addition to providing direct intervention to improve compliance on a case-by-case basis, the individual in this position will work across hospital divisions with inter-professional teams to educate employees at all levels in methods to achieve compliance to quality indicators, and will participate in, and/or lead, hospital committees/councils and clinical projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current Registered Professional Nurse and Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in New Jersey.

2. Master’s Degree in Nursing required, Doctorate (DNP, PhD) preferred

3. Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing practice experience, primarily in area of specialty.

Credentialed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey with primary focus of education and training as one of the following:

– Clinical Nurse Specialist

– Adult

– Nurse Practitioner

– Acute Care

– Adult, Adult/Gerontology or Family

The position requires a collaborative agreement with a physician. The position is contingent upon appointment to the Medical Staff by the Board of Trustees.
